29 years after marriage, even after 14 years of trying, the couple didn’t have any children, and her menstrual cycle was very irregular and scanty.
For this, she made efforts for three years, spent 2.5 lakhs, but there was no success 😣…
Finally, they gave up all hope, sat down, and left it to fate as per Prabhu’s wishes 🙏🏻
Gradually, her appetite decreased, she felt discomfort in her stomach, acidity, and started vomiting. She came to me about two months ago.
While talking, it seemed to me that the sister was very upset and her hands and feet were numb. When her stomach was examined, it was absolutely normal!
So, first, I gave her some medicines and asked her to come back after fifteen days.
She returned after 15 days, and even then, the knot in her stomach was the same 😜
So, I asked, “Why are you so tense? Why are you living in such tension?”
“Just say ‘Ganga Jamuna’ and walk away.” I said casually. This phrase means that she should not worry too much.
Her husband also had some medicines based on her old reports and asked her to come back after fifteen days.
After 15 days, she came back, and the knot in her stomach remained the same! She even said, “Lohi (a type of blood tonic) is not working, Doctor.”
I asked her, “Did you have a torchlight examination in your eyes?” (referring to a medical examination).
“No, nothing was found,” she said.
Suddenly, my attention was drawn to her eyes. There was a peculiar yellowish hue in her eyes. It looked like the color of “KF Ring”!! Which indicates copper deposition in the eyes.
I asked her to get her urine tested for copper immediately. The diagnosis was shocking!!
Diagnosis: Wilson’s disease with hepatic and neurological involvement.
Understanding of Wilson’s disease:
- This disease is hereditary, but its diagnosis is mostly delayed.
- It can occur between 10-30 years of age.
- It affects one in 50,000 people.
- In this disease, copper accumulates in the whole body (mainly in the liver, brain, joints, and eyes).
- If not diagnosed and treated, all organs gradually deteriorate, and liver transplantation may be necessary!
- The cost of this treatment can reach up to 25-30 lakhs!
In this case, due to copper deposition, irregular menstruation, infertility, liver problems, depression, and numbness in hands and feet were also present, all due to Wilson’s disease.
But diagnosing it was as difficult as finding a needle in a haystack from the soy in the grass fields! So, it took so long for her diagnosis!
Treatment:
“Copper chelation therapy”
She was given certain medications (D-penicillamine, trientine) that help remove copper from the body through urine.
With the initiation of the medication, her menstruation became regular after three months, and her copper levels also increased! 😊
After six months, her numbness, discomfort in hands and feet, everything was completely gone! 😊
Now, she’s on the way to pregnancy… 😃😃
