When the wife nags, many men have such a wish that if they could just escape from it, they would have peace for 2-3 days… 😂 It’s the time of COVID. Due to the lockdown, the family had little chance to meet.
One night, I received a call from my uncle that my aunt had a severe headache and weakness, so we have to admit her to the hospital. Our uncle and aunt are like Hans-Hasi (a pair of swans), always complementing each other and living with love.
When I reached to see my aunt in the morning and my uncle opened the door, I asked, “Uncle, has aunt lost a lot of weight? Is she feeling well?”
Uncle: “No, she hasn’t lost much weight; her health is fine. These folks are controlling their diet in the lockdown.” 🙂
I also asked my aunt, and she said that she has lost a little weight, but everything else is normal. If we see her after many days, we might think she has become a bit thin.
But something seemed wrong to me, so before my aunt could fast, I checked my uncle’s nails and tongue. I found that his iron was a bit low.
“You should get your report done,” I said.
Aunt laughed and said, “I am not sick.”
In the report, it was indeed a bit low! 9%!
I told aunt that it is not okay to reduce iron without any reason.
Uncle: “No, there’s nothing like that; I have reduced B12 and vitamins, that’s all.”
Me: “Uncle, honestly, it’s necessary for us to report more cases of large intestine cancer in our family. So, you all should have another checkup. Both endoscopy and colonoscopy for everyone above 50, it’s mandatory in the USA, Europe, UK, and Australia. All countries follow it; it’s essential for health. Some level of Westernization is necessary for health matters too.”
Uncle agreed, and aunt’s sonography came out normal, but the endoscopy showed a large lump! I felt like I was punched in the stomach.
Uncle hadn’t had anesthesia at that time, so I called aunt inside and told her the details before the CT scan and biopsy, but until the cancer was confirmed, we didn’t tell him anything.
Eventually, the lump turned out to be cancer. Advanced stage (3b). I thought my aunt would break down, but surprisingly, she became incredibly strong and supported my uncle like a strong wall. 💪💪
For eight months, there were many ups and downs, but the love and trust between my aunt and uncle and their patience defeated advanced cancer! 🙂
Today, my uncle is completely healthy, driving the car and going to the office. 😃
After my uncle’s case, everyone in the family (above 50) went through endoscopy and colonoscopy. Everyone had small polyps! This polyp could have become cancer in 5-10 years, so we removed it with an endoscopy. And that’s how this story started… Aunt’s nagging was gone in just two days. 😂😂 And my uncle indeed benefited.
Lessons Learned:
- It’s not necessary to see everything in sonography/CT scan of the intestines and stomach.
- Everyone above 55 should have a routine body checkup including endoscopy and colonoscopy (in the USA, Europe, UK, Australia). All countries and all people above 55 must do it; it’s necessary. Some level of Westernization is essential for health.
- If the polyp is small, it can be removed through endoscopy, and it doesn’t turn into cancer.
- Cancer treatment is not just about surgery/chemotherapy/radiation therapy but also about a positive attitude, faith in God, and family support.
- No disease or difficulty is permanent… advanced cancer can also be defeated! Our uncle is a living example. 🙂
